How should divorced parents handle Christmas?

WE always suggest that client’s get creative and come up with a plan that both parents can agree on ahead of time.

  • Maybe “Santa” doesn’t have to come just one morning each year. Many families celebrate “Christmas Morning” on Christmas Eve morning at one house and Christmas Day morning at another house.
  • Maybe parents should split the cost of the “Santa” gifts each year regardless of which house Santa is coming to.
  • Maybe Santa comes the same day every year but Santa gifts aren’t opened at the other parent’s house until later on in the day.

There’s lots of options for families, the important thing is choosing something that both parents agree on and stick with the plan. Believe us, the Court will not litigate your Christmas Day disputes!

Whatever you choose, we wish you and your family a wonderful holiday season and a Very Happy New Year!
